💡 Three nuclear energy innovation news this week!
🥨 TerraPower awards suppliers contracts for the Natrium reactor demonstration project being developed in Kemmerer, Wyoming. These includeWestern Services Corporation for the software platform, James Fisher Technologies for the injection casting process, BWXT Canada Ltd for the intermediate heat exchanger, and Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Service Corporation for the reactor protection system. The Natrium demonstration plant is a 345 MWe sodium-cooled fast reactor with a molten salt-based energy storage system able to temporarily boost the system's output to 500 MWe.
🍙 Tokamak Energy and Sumitomo Corporation sign a collaboration agreement to develop, implement and scale-up commercial fusion energy in Japan and beyond. Through the agreement, Sumitomo Corporation will contribute with expertise and investment to a series of joint projects with Tokamak Energy , including developing early market entry strategies.
👩🎓 Kick-off for the 2023 edition of the Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp in Japan, hosted by the Tokyo Institute of Technology and co-organized by the Nuclear Innovation Alliance. This annual workshop introduces students and early career professionals to advanced nuclear and the 21st century energy landscape.
